Our bible study for today is Psalm 148. This Psalm talks about how all of God’s creation, the sun, moon, and stars were created to praise the Lord. During the day, the sun shines and gives light and warmth while at night, the moon reflects that light. The creatures in the depths of the ocean and all heavenly hosts in the skies also praise God. What about people? How are we to praise God? Sometimes it is easy to see how other people and things can praise God, but why is it so difficult to see how we can personally praise Him?
Is it praise when we attempt to raise our children to know and live out the Word of God? As a home school parent, this is the core reason why we wanted our children to be educated from home. As a believer I want this principle to guid my life and the lives of my children. I asked my children how they could praise God and they each found it difficult to come up with ways. I reminded them that when they treat others as they would want to be treated that is one way of demonstrating our love for God. There are more spectacular ways of demonstrating such praise, but if God rewards us for being faithful with the little things, then it is of my personal belief that God as a loving father is greatly pleased with the little ways we praise Him.
If you are a believer, remember that it is in the little things that God is impressed. Jesus said that if we give someone a cup of water in His name, then we are doing this for Him. Don’t feel like you need to do some miraculous thing, but if you are into the miraculous, know that teaching your children to praise God in this hour in which we life, is somewhat miraculous.
